Participates in 1 Session
Terra Xavier had been working in specialized settings for students with Learning Disabilities for more than a decade. She began her career with CBE teaching in the Learning and Literacy program at Keeler School before becoming a Learning Leader at Dr. Oakley, where she currently teaches. Her passion for building relationships with students and patiently supporting LD learners in developing confidence sprouts from her personal experiences watching her brother (diagnosed with an LD and ADHD in grade 3) struggle through school and eventually drop out as a result of being labelled and misunderstood. Terra strives to inspire her students to believe in themselves and their abilities, while coming alongside them to strategically and explicitly teach them to read. Her passion, knowledge, and eagerness to continue learning is evident as she now strives to support teachers in enhancing their practice.
