"Emily Hellyer has been a grade 1-2 teacher with the Calgary Board of Education since 2009. Emily lives in Chestermere, Alberta with her husband and their four year old daughter and two year old son. Before she was a teacher she was a dance instructor. In the summer she provides dance workshops and choreography for competition dancers in Alberta and British Columbia. Performing Art and Visual Art have always been important to Emily. As a teacher she weaves art into every subject. When my children are doing art they are focused and given the ability to express their learning in a variety of ways that keep them in their comfort zone while pushing them outside the box.

Art is a way for children to find themselves and loose themselves at the same time. - Thomas Morton"
